Why are the most awesome characters in an Anime Series always have a limited time?

Just a simple question to all anime fans..

Why are the most awesome characters in an Anime Series always have a limited screen time? (If I'm not mistaken)

Also, they are always have out-of-this world superpowers.. Either way, that's what makes them so cool... right?
